Cribs Edition
I was recently approached by Shannon of Mother Lovely to be interviewed for her blog. I submitted my answers to her questions this week, but one of the questions she asked was about my interior decorating style. You'll be able to see my answer over there soon enough, but in the meantime I wanted to share a few home photos I snapped with my phone. I always enjoy when bloggers share photos of their homes because it's something that's personal and no two are ever alike. Unlike when you get a peek inside celebrity homes... typically it's anything but personal. Some overpaid designer came in, dumped a bunch of stuff and added a smattering of personal photos and trinkets. Boring! For the rest of us, we decorate over time. Building a home piece by piece.
This is probably my second favorite spot in the house (after my bedroom). My roommates and I are currently residing in the coveted neighborhood of East Sacramento. Meaningless to anyone from out of town, but it's really a lovely (older) neighborhood. We had this weird nook in the kitchen that wasn't really big enough for a table, but it would be ideal for storage. Two bakers racks fit p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y in there and gave me a ton of extra space for my baking and for all of our various appliances!
This chandelier hangs over our table off the living room. I scored this baby on Craigslist for less than fifty bucks! I have yet to see another so cute and so affordable. It was an off-white color, but we needed a pop of color so I spray painted it an ashy blue color. In our old rental my dad converted the wiring so it was like a lamp with a switch because there was no overhead lighting in the living room. In our new home, he converted it back and took down the owners' chandelier instead. I like touches like this, it makes a rental feel more like home.
This ends our episode of The Girl Kyle: Cribs Edition. I hope you enjoyed your little peak into my home and I'll be sharing more soon! :)
