I'm going to let you in on a secret...
..one Kaila let me in on.
The library is cool.
That’s right, I’m talking about the library. That place we used to go to when we were in school and if you’re like me, you probably haven’t set foot in since. I cannot believe how much has changed.
First of all, I text - TEXT! - the library on Monday.
Kaila brought home a handful of library books several months ago. Initially I wasn’t too impressed. I love a fresh, new book and going to the bookstore, wandering aimlessly. I didn’t want to give that up, but then Simone went a couple weeks ago. She was {originally} denied btw. ;) Who knew that was possible? So I decided I need to see what all the cool kids were up to. Hence the text. I would be mortified if I were to be denied by the only free service left in this entire world!
The library text me back. Told me what I needed to qualify, including a website - uuuum, website? I still remember using old catalog cards as scratch paper when looking books up on those dinosaur computers?! On the website you can search for books, request books from other branches and even get on a waitlist for books in high demand. WHAAA??
I keep a list of books I come across that seem interesting and I want to read in the future in my note app. I searched all of those titles in the libraries search engine and 4 out of 6 were available. New books. Written in the last decade. I was sold.
I know I’m rambling, but it’s kind of amazing how far they’ve come and it’s still free. Well if you look past the $2 fee for a new card, but what’s $2 in this day and age?
