Why do people...

call and ask if they can invite so-and-so to *fill in the blank*?  I mean if you didn’t already invite them yourselves then there’s your answer!  Now, you’ve put me in the position to say yes.  Is there any polite way to say no?

I especially hate when the so-and-so is their boyfriend.  Do they really need to bring him EVERYWHERE?
